Know Before You Go
Hopleaf intentionally does not have the typical barroom diversion of television, perfect for guests who enjoy a little conversation.
When to Go
Food is served from 5pm to 11pm Sunday through Thursday and 5pm to 12am Friday and Saturday. The bar is packed almost every night at dinnertime, especially weekends, so go early or expect to wait.
Where to Sit
The handsome upstairs room is available for private parties, offering warm atmosphere and a slightly less-expansive beer menu.
FourSquare Tips
Check out the roasted chicken with oven-roasted artichokes, spring onions and mashed potatoes or a CB&J: a grilled sandwich of housemade cashew butter, fig jam and Morbier cheese on sourdough bread.
Congratulations, you've found one of Esquire's Best Bars in America. With 150 beers on tap, including Trappist ales and mead, try to order something other than a Stella Artois.
Work your way through the front bar to the back dining room for a more comfortable spot to take in the awe-inspiring international beer selection and even better food. - Inspector
best beer selection in Chicago
It's all about their decadent CB&J. House-made cashew butter, fig jam, and morbier cheese, and on top of that it's pan-fried!
Great spot if you are looking for savory dishes, Belgium beers and a cozy table for two! #vday
Go to Hopleaf Bar and order their mussels. I never had mussels before and when I did I fell in love, specifically for Hopleaf's...nom nom nom :)
Always a bit more crowded than I'd wish, but with reason. Incredible beer selection and tasty food like mussels w/frites. Never had a bad beer there, out of dozens I've tried.
With such knowledgeable staff and so many draughts be sure to expand your beer horizons by asking for recommendations.
