I ate the Crawfish Etouffe Omelet this morning. You get a heaping side of grits, but I wish there was more heaping etouffe.

When to Go
Mother's ain't roomy. The lunch line stretches out the door and down the block, so come early--or late.
Know Before You Go
This spot serves cafeteria-style. You order at the counter, pick it up and grab a seat at any table--even if a stranger is sitting there, too.
FourSquare Tips
Watch out for the special sandwich ingredient at this New Orleans eatery. It?s called ?debris.? As seen on Travel Channel?s Man v. Food Nation.
"If this place was as authentic as the name implies, you would eat your entire meal while someone screams at you that you're worthless." - Conan O'Brien
The Famous Ferdi Special is the best of a sub sandwich, a French dip - every sandwich you?ve ever loved in one. - Jeffrey Saad, United Tastes of America

Look at the menu and know what you want before getting in the line. The line moves very fast so be ready. Plenty of space and tables in the back.
Go here. Eat po-boy. It was the best I tried
The jambalaya and crawfish etouffee omelete are stop-your-heart-and-die good.
Perfect spot for out-of-towners staying downtown to grab a po-boy. Mother's is an institution!
The line is like airport security, but so much tastier.
Free drink refills!!
