disappointed. loved the quaint atmosphere but the food was average. we had the pulled pork, brisket, sausage and ribs. the ribs did have a good smokiness but still nothing special.

What a great bang for the buck! The Woodyard is exactly what I'm looking for when it comes to dives...all about the food and less about the ambiance. They know they make great food, yet they don't take advantage of your wallet because of it. I had a heaping 4 meat combo with brisket, pulled pork, sausage, and BURNT ENDS...loved every bite! If I wasn't just passing through, I'd eat there constantly.

Try the BBQ!
OHHH the Smells, The Taste, The Burnt Ends....Sit back and enjoy a real KC BBQ experience.
If you want delicious, authentic kc BBQ but w/o corporate prices, no one does it better than Woodyard. Try the half pulled pork, half brisket sandwich w cheesy corn + beans. Up there w the Zman sammy!
There's no A/C, but there is a nice shaded outdoor area, so plan accordingly!
This no-frills joint was featured in an all-barbecue episode of "Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives." For something different, try the savory wings.
As Anthony Bourdain remarked, "it's all about the wood" at this hidden gem. Using apple, cherry and other non-traditional barbecue lumber, the result is a completely original flavor.
Order anything. It's all good.
The bbq is sassy, the cashier's even sassier!
The ribs are amazing. Be sure to try Tue burnt-end chili.
Try not to get any on ya.
