This is a bit unfair, because any place cooking fresh off the grill cheesesteak sandwiches is a hit in my book.....I gave them a thumbs up (but I am a Pat's guy because they are old school instead of pimped out Vegas-like). Real fav, the Claymont Steak Shop!

Lots of Glitz and Glamour here... Sandwiches not much better than your local pizzeria but it's about history here.

Know Before You Go
There's a specific way to order your cheesesteak here: First, state your cheese of preference (provolone, American or Cheez Whiz--the classic option) and then whether you want it with or without griddle-fried onions. Be warned: Any pause in delivering your request can get you a stiff reprimand.
What to Drink
The choice is simple: "Soda" (never "pop,") coffee or water.
FourSquare Tips
Did you already hit up Pat?s? Don?t forget: a steak with Cheez Whiz and onions is a ?Whiz Wit.? If you?d prefer provolone and no onions, order a ?Provolone Witout.?
"Screw Pat's! These are the best cheesesteaks in Philly, bar none." - Conan O'Brien
Opened in 1966, use one window to order sandwiches and another for drinks and sides. Locals rave about the cheese fries.
Eat a Genos steak
Go to Pat's. Pat's cheesesteak tastes better and you don't get a side of hatred with it.
Over rated. Not that great.
Wiz wit always
Oprah, Sylvester Stallone, Barack Obama and Patti LaBelle have eaten here, among others. The owner caused a national controversy in 2006 by demanding only English be spoken. Regardless, go "Whiz wit."
xenophobia to the max, don't give ur money to racist people, eat at pat's better.
While South Philly was shutting down pools and libraries these asshats were donating money to Arizona for anti-immigration legal fund. Bad food, bad neighbors, bad people.
