Stopped by on recent Twin Cities DDD roadtrip. Went for lunch and had pot roast. Was really good, but reminded me of my mom's when she leaves in slow cooker. Really wished they didn't change their menu so often so could try the lamb burger that was featured on show. Guy said he'd hunt down the chef if they didn't have it on the menu next time he was in town. Guess they didn't take his threat seriously.

Parking
Parking can get hectic on weekends, especially with the all of the new shops and bars in the neighborhood. A parking lot across the street is generally open, but be sure to observe all of the posted signs. Some parking is only good for 15 minutes.
The Extras
Under a new chef in recent years, the Modern Cafe has evolved to offer customers seasonal menus inspired by local and sustainable ingredients.
FourSquare Tips
Pork cabbage pancakes are crisp, soulful and awesome - good buy at $9, too.
The vegetarian Pumpkin Soup ($14) with mole, sopes, and wild mushrooms is unique and addictively savory.
Try the Famous Modern Hash. The hash is a morning knockout: A duo of perfectly poached eggs on that holy pot roast, dressed with potatoes, peppers, and herbs.
This my go-to neighborhood spot. Super wholesome stick to your ribs comfort food. Go with the pot roast or meet loaf if it's your first time. Everything is good though.
The meatloaf is a slice of cozy bliss.
Try the Pot Roast for dinner or pancakes, french toast, eggs and bacon for breakfast
Good comfort food! But very few options for the non-dairy non-red meat diet if you have a group of various people doing lunch.
Best brunch in Nordeast.
Have a local beer and a glass of wine at the same time while enjoying the pot roast.
Take a picture of the giant COCK and post it on FourSquare.
