Great German food. I highly recommend the buffet so you can sample all their wonderful dishes. The Bahama Mama sausage is quite good. And the 8oz cream puff: save room but well worth it!

We had lunch here today. Only a 20 minute late. I haven't eaten here for years and I forgot how good the Brat's and Sausage was. Just had the buffet so I good a little of each. This is also the only place that make a German Potato Salad I will eat. Sausage stew was perfect, great flavor and spicy.

Located in a former slaughterhouse, Schmidt's is said to be haunted by the ghost of original owner J. Fred Schmidt.
FourSquare Tips
Featured on Man v Food - come for the sausage, but don't miss the half pound cream puffs!
Buffet is great!
Try the cream puffs!
Definitely do the buffet! Great establishment and has been around a long time.
Schmidt's Gold, pretzel bites, and bahama mama sandwich...
Loved by locals, this is a must try in Columbus. Feast on Schmidt's Famous Pretzel Nuggets ($5.75) for a starter w/the Bahama Mama "The Original" ($10.75), or one of the legendary sandwiches ($7+).
Get the Schmidt's Dark beer. It's great.
Unfortunately they won't take reservations. Get there early.
the buffet rocks!
The meal isn't complete without an authentic German bier!
