Fun Fact
During Austin City Limits in 2002, the chicken cones were the most talked-about food item available, and the buzz lives on - even current menu offerings must live in the shadow of those tasty cones.
The Extras
This isn't just a cone-fest; dessert is here, too. Hand-dipped Blue Bell ice cream is churned into thick shakes or dropped into ice cream floats. The Death By Chocolate brownie is the same as the Hudson's original.
FourSquare Tips
Amid a collection of mobile vendors is this truck from Hudson's on the Bend, famous for local game. Don't pass up the grass-fed venison with mango-jalapeño slaw.
Get the avocado and crunchy chicken (breaded with sesame sees, almonds, chili flakes, sea salt, sugar and corn flakes) in a cone-shaped tortilla.
For each "cone" you buy, a percentage of proceeds go to Communities in Schools, Sustainable Food Center and Caritas of Austin. Doesn't get better than that.
They're known for their tortilla cones which they fill with crispy chicken, deep fried avocado, crispy shrimps - the list goes on! We suggest: Deep Fried Avocado or Hot & Crunchy Chicken Cones.
make sure you try the fries with the roasted red pepper ketchup
Do yourself a favor and pick the fried avacado with a side of waffle fries. Then sit at the picnic table, and enjoy the SoCo people-watching.
Somewhere between digging into a Mighty Cone and a cupcake from a mobile vendor, you will realize that you are in one of the most unconventionally cool cities on Earth. ? Jason, our Homesick Austinite
