I arrived in Norfolk and started watching the food channel in my hotel. After an hour or 2 playing on the internet and watching the food channel, I started becoming motivated to eat and i thought let me try one. So, I food channel googled Norfolk and found Whitners BBQ. While watching the segment, i first noticed they were in a strip mall, I was like this is not going to be good. I am gain, the host of this show looks as if he can eat good food. Well, plugged the address into GPS, and off I went. As I walked in, it smelled good! I was hopefully. See, I travel much through teh Southeast and west. I have eaten more bad BBQ than good. Don't get me started on all the bad Greek restaurants, but interestingly, I will stop at every BBQ and Greek restaurant trying to find teh ones I will return in all cities. ok, back to Whitners, I ordered the KC Burnt sandwich. Service was fast, like 2 minutes to get meal. The place was empty, so self seating was not an issue. I took teh first bite and was like hmmmm... Ok maybe the second bite will be better, knowing that is usually not the point. The bun was too much bread. I imagine to cover for the lack of meat on the sandwich (about 3 oz). The Baked beans were under cooked and came from a can. Mashed potatoes were ok. With soda, total was a little over 9 dollars. I would say two thumbs down! The whole experience was uneventful. The only thing about good, was the coffee I got afterwards somewhere else. Well, I will march on. An unsolicited recommendation- UP IN SMOKE BBQ, a small place between Dallas and Austin on the 35, YUMM!
