Drinking Made Easy
Aired on 11/02/2010
Episode: New Orleans
Unlike many grand restaurants, which have only one central dining room, the century-and-a-half-old Antoine's has 15 dining rooms, each of them with their own unique history and charm. Serving up some recipes for some classic cocktails like the Sazerac (a simple 19thcentury drink and possibly America’s oldest cocktail), they are known for combining their two loves: alcohol and caffeine, with the Cafe Brulot.

Look Good
The dress code at lunch is casual; at dinner, it's jacket and tie.

Tony Bourdain sampled the Oysters Rockefeller, a dish invented at Antoine's, which is the oldest operating restaurant in the United States.
Café Brulot Is the epitome of this restuarants old-world, over-the-top grandeur. A server ladels flmaing brandy-spiked coffee down a spiral of orange zest into a silver bowl heated by a ring of fire.
Avoid going here. While the food may be good, the service is awful; not even close to what it used to be. Just go to Commander's Palace instead.
Antoine's is old New Orleans. It's a pleasure to order & eat here. Don't miss the Oysters Rockefeller Creole Gumbo; Filet Marchand de Vin; & Tout Pontchartrain. The wine list one of the best around.
We love peering into Antoine?s wine cavern through its rear window (between 519 and 521 Royal Street).
We love the Oysters Rockefeller served with a side of history at Antoine?s, where the dish originated in 1899.
Cold food. Not great service
Waste of time and money. If you are looking for top notch food, go somewhere else. Anywhere else!

Sizzler service and Ruth's Chris prices. Sadly this place has gone steeply downhill. If you insist on going, the baked Alaska and the escargot were good.
